Bathroom Faucet RepairAll You Need To Know For Bathroom Faucet Repair

The experience of a leaking tap in the bathroom can result in high water bills and nasty stains in the tub and sink. Prevent the occurrence of such inconvenience and follow these tips to bathroom faucet repair. Faucets are an integral part of any home and thus every effort should be taken to keep these items in working order.

Repairing a faulty tap can be far more affordable than purchasing a replacement or contacting a professional to sort the problem out for you.

Should the problem be a dripping tap it is considered a very common issue and easiest to repair. The cause of this is usually a result of worn washers, gaskets or even seals.

A leak can often be caused by seepage from the supply of water in the home. The washers and seals are the parts of the system that hold the water back when the tap is turned off. Should a washer or seal not be functioning properly the liquid will seep through causing the leak which in this case means that the specific washers or seals need to be replaced.

In preparation for reparation of separate faucets for hot and cold water, the new parts should be purchased at a hardware store.

A corroded valve means the entire tap should be replaced. When starting the process be sure to turn off the main supply and then drain the system by releasing the valves.

Proceed to remove the handles of your faucets by means of a blade or knife which is the toughest part of this process but do not force it as the handle could break. Once this is removed check the seat washers. If the brass seat ring is eroded then simply replace this item by means of a seat wrench.

It is best to replace the seats and the valves in both of the taps.

Leaks may be due to the stiffening of the seat washers eventually worn by pressure. This is why replacing the valves and washers are important in bathroom faucet repair.
